Madrid fielded Denis Cheryshev, who was ineligible to play in their 3-1 win over Cadiz, in the first leg of their round of 32 fixture earlier this month.
Manager Rafa Benitez withdrew the Russia international during the interval, when he found out that he has not served a one-match ban, for accumulating three yellow cards while on loan at Villarreal.
The RFEF disqualified Madrid from the competition, but they fought back insisting the club was not notified about Cheryshev’s suspension.
However, the Appeal Committee has now upheld the original ruling and confirmed the news via a statement on the RFEF’s official website.
